Bend Parks & Recreation – Bend Park & Recreation District maintains and operates more than 2,600 acres of developed and undeveloped parkland. That includes 81 parks/open spaces and 65 miles of trail. They offer over 770 recreation programs for all ages and abilities throughout the area. Youth enrichment and daycare services are offered through Kids Inc.
Run for the Health of It – FootZone is the hub of Bend’s running scene. Located in downtown Bend, FootZone holds a variety of events, including a 5K training group and weekly runs and workouts. And of course, you’ll find the perfect running apparel and shoes to fit your style.
Spin Around Bend – There are several bicycle clubs with planned rides throughout Bend and beyond. Each club’s planned rides are a great way to see meet others, see some beautiful parts of our area, and keep the legs and gluts nice and tight. Climb the Walls – Take the whole family to the Bend Rock Gym and climb your way to the top. Learn your way around the gym, including an introduction to climbing gear and a brief introduction to auto-belays, top roping, and bouldering.
Bend Senior Center – The Bend Senior Center is a gathering place and center of activities for persons 50 years and better. Owned and operated by the Bend Park & Recreation District, the activities and programs at the Bend Senior Center are designed to promote active healthy lifestyles through health, education, recreation, socialization and volunteer opportunities.
Oregon Senior Games – Athletes ages 50 and older can compete in the Oregon Senior Games officially sanctioned by the National Senior Games Association (NSGA). Compete in one of the sixteen sports offered. It’s a great chance to test your mettle against other senior competitors from around the country. Whether you’re a super-competitive athlete, or just someone looking to stay active, the Oregon Senior Games is a great event to add to your bucket list.
Bend’s Health Club Scene – Yes, Bend is a year-round outdoor playground. But there’s nothing like sweating with 30 of your closest friends during a Spinning class. Bend has wonderful athletic clubs that meet any need:
Juniper Swim and Fitness Center – Juniper Swim & Fitness Center is a family-friend facility owned and operated by Bend Park & Recreation District. Juniper serves all ages from infant to seniors. Their state of the art facilities and quality fitness programs rival most private clubs. Juniper’s Youth Activities caters to kids looking for an adventure or an opportunity to learn new skills. Depending upon your child’s age they may choose from Art, Gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, Horseback Riding, Ice Skating, Spanish, Skateboarding, After School Orchestra, Theatre or Cheerleading.
Athletic Club of Bend – The Athletic Club of Bend is a full service athletic club with indoor and outdoor fitness facilities features 7 indoor tennis courts, indoor running track, indoor and outdoor pools, several cardio areas, weight room, basketball court, 4 racquetball/squash courts and full service pro shop. Classes include yoga, pilates, group exercise, cardio, strength conditioning, water exercise, and indoor cycling. Additionally, the Athletic Club of Bend features Scanlon’s Restaurant, a club cafe, massage facilities, as well as a hair salon. The Athletic Club of Bend hosts community events throughout the year such as a summer concert series, wellness lecturers, and benefits for local non-profits.
Bend Downtown Athletic Club – The Bend Downtown Athletic Club is located on the 3rd Floor of the Franklin Crossing Building in downtown Bend. The large cardio/weight room is perfect for the self-motivated. The most group popular group classes are Body Pump and Spinning. Owner Gary has been in the fitness business in Central Oregon for almost 30 years. Gary runs a great facility.
